Coach Trey here,
We at M-PACT wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS. To all of our players . . . Take and break and enjoy the holidays with your families. We look forward to seeing you right after the holidays as you get back in and work on your skills for the upcoming spring season. Tonight on the radio show we count down the top college bowl games and moments of all time. Check out the show on espnflorida.com and call in 888-300-ESPN with your picks. You can also e-mail at basicsradio@aol.com. Here are mine:
10) 1979 Cotton Bowl - Monatana leads Irish to last second visctory in ice storm in Dallas.
9) 2006 Insight Bowl - Red Raiders are down by 31 points in the 3rd quarter and rally to beat Minnesota. This game cost the Gophers Coach his job. Biggest comeback in bowl history.
8) 1980 Rose Bowl - USC and Charles White win by 1 point over Ohio State.
7) 2006 Rose Bowl - A game that lived up to the hype as Vince Young and the Longhorns beat USC.
6) 1978 Gator Bowl - Woody Hayes looses his temper and slugs Clemson's LB after he made game clinching interception.
5) 2002 Fiesta Bowl - Ohio State gets the "phantom" interference call in the end zone during overtime and beats Miami for the national title.
4) 1979 Sugar Bowl - Alabama Makes the Goal line stand of the century and beats Penn State for National Title
3) 1980 Holiday Bowl - Talk about comebacks. BYU is loosing to SMU by 20 points with 3 minutes left in the game and Jim McMahon leads the cougars to victory!
2) 2007 Fiesta Bowl - Boise State in one of the biggest upsets in bowl history over Oklahoma in one of the most entertaining games I have ever seen.
1) 1984 Orange Bowl - All Nebraska has to do is kick the game tying extra point and they win the national championiship. Instead Tom Osborne goes for two and misses. Miami wins the game and the title. To this day Osborne is respected by legions of fans for going for the win instead of the tie.
There they are. Please comment and weigh in. We will be taking the next two weeks off of the show. We'll see you in 2009 with more BACK TO BASICS on ESPN FLORIDA! 1080am! Merry Christmas!!
